I spent six months in Hyderabad, India working as a fellow with The Modern Story. I taught over 80 middle school students (half Telugu/Urdu/Tamil medium) digital storytelling skills including script writing, photography, audio, video production, video editing, interviewing, social media, and community service media. In addition to working with four urban schools in various neighborhoods around Hyderabad, I spent a week in Tamil Nadu working with two groups of students in small rural villages with the NGO Communities Rising.
I oversaw the production of over 12 student-created multimedia stories/documentaries, and facilitated classroom exchanges with classrooms in Thailand, South Africa, and the US. I also had the opportunity to travel to Thailand to teach a lesson to students in Ranong.
I also have facilitated a pilot partnership between Teach For India and TMS, in which we partner with TFI teachers to bring digital storytelling to more classrooms. I worked with local teachers to develop their multimedia skills and bring digital storytelling to their curriculum.
Here are some of the best projects my students created. See all of the projects here.
