I’m Karis Hustad, and I’m an Aarhus, Denmark-based freelance journalist covering tech, business, and Northern Europe’s eccentricities. Previously, I’ve covered the startup scene in Chicago and national tech trends out of Boston, and was a Women in Tech Fellow with the GroundTruth Project and a Teaching Fellow with The Modern Story in Hyderabad, India.
I’m also currently an Erasmus Mundus scholar, pursuing an MA in Journalism, Media and Globalization at Aarhus University and City, University of London (via the transnational Erasmus Mundus Journalism program), with a specialization in finance and business reporting.
I report on technology, business, startups, innovation and politics, with a special interest in diversity and the philosophical questions presented in the digital age. I’ve reported from Morocco, Chicago, Boston, Houston, Minneapolis, Paris, and Denmark. My work has appeared in Public Radio International, Chicago Inno, The Christian Science Monitor, the Chicago Tribune, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, among other outlets, and has been syndicated in Venture Beat, CNBC, and across the American City Business Journals publications. Beyond writing, I’ve produced podcasts, wrote authoritative newsletters and taught digital storytelling to the next generation of journalists in India and Thailand.
